Ross McIlvanney

Aerodynamics Project Lead - Principal Engineer at MBDA

Ross McIlvanney started their work experience in 2012 as a Student Research and Development Engineer at UTC Aerospace Systems. During this time, they supported various projects focused on developing new technologies for aircraft engine nacelles.

In 2013, Ross joined MBDA as a Graduate Aerodynamics and Propulsion Engineer. Ross worked in this role until 2015, during which they performed tasks such as design studies, wind tunnel testing, data analysis, trajectory simulations, and other aerodynamics-related tasks.

From 2015 to 2018, Ross worked as a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer at MBDA, specifically in the Assessment Phase of a future air-launched weapon. Ross'sresponsibilities included iterative design studies, wind tunnel testing, data analysis, trajectory simulations, and ad-hoc aerodynamics tasks.

In 2018, Ross transitioned to the role of Principal Aerodynamics Engineer at MBDA, and later in 2020, they became the Aerodynamics Project Lead - Principal Engineer. In these leadership roles, they managed a team of engineers and was responsible for the overall project deliverables, including concept development and meeting customer performance requirements.

Overall, Ross has gained experience and expertise in aerodynamics, project management, and team leadership throughout their work experience at both UTC Aerospace Systems and MBDA.

Ross McIlvanney attended Marr College in Troon from 2002 to 2008, completing their secondary education. Ross then went on to study Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Glasgow from 2008 to 2013, earning a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree.
