Richard Christiani

Principal, Architect at MBH Arch

An expert in the design of high-density mixed-use developments, Richard brings a lifelong involvement with architecture and the building industry to his projects. He has an invaluable breadth of knowledge that uniquely unites the complex pragmatics of building design and construction with aesthetic ideals. Richard founded Christiani Johnson Architects, Inc. in 1994 and earned a reputation for delivering excellent service and design. Over nearly 24 years, he built his practice on a solid foundation of construction expertise, elegant design sensibilities and positive client relationships which have resulted in award-winning projects. In 2018, Christiani Johnson Architects officially became part of the MBH family by joining the team at the Alameda headquarters. Richard completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design. He is also a recognized photographer whose images of Himalayan landscapes, culture and people have been exhibited at a number of venues including the World Affairs Council in San Francisco.
