Colin McHugh

Colin McHugh's work experience begins in 2009 as a Research Assistant at the Visual Cognition Department of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2010, they worked as a Project Assistant at Mintel. From 2012 to 2014, Colin served as a Programmer/Research Assistant at the Northwestern University Psychology department.

In 2014, Colin joined InContext Solutions as an Analyst, where they managed research projects for Fortune 500 clients, programmed surveys, and automated analytic methods using languages such as R, Python, and SQL. From 2016 to 2017, they became the Advanced Analytics Lead at InContext Solutions, collaborating with the VP of Product Development and the Chief Research Officer to develop reusable data models and research tools. Colin also integrated third-party software into the existing data pipeline and research platform at InContext Solutions.

Starting in 2017, Colin worked at Mbira Technologies. Initially, they held the position of Data Modeling Analyst before being promoted to Senior Data Scientist. In this role, they primarily focused on the development of machine learning models for fraud detection and financing risk assessment. Colin's responsibilities included SQL development for ETL processes, feature engineering, and automating model hyper-parameter tuning. Colin also created rigorous testing methods to determine the best version of the models.

Currently, Colin holds the position of Lead Data Scientist at Mbira Technologies, where they continue to contribute to the development of machine learning models for fraud detection and financing risk assessment.

Colin McHugh completed their high school education at St. Ignatius College Prep from 2003 to 2007, specializing in College Prep courses. Colin then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, from August 2007 to August 2014.
