Julie K. Stahlhut, Ph.D. has a diverse range of work experience. Most recently, they served as the Managing Director of the Advanced Technology Practice at McAllister & Quinn. Prior to that, they were an Associate/subject editor at MIT Science Policy Review. Julie K. also worked as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the U.S. Department of State, where they served as an Environment, Science, Technology, and Health officer and Program Analyst, focusing on various issues such as fisheries, critical minerals, cyberinfrastructure, and public health. Additionally, they were a STEM policy fellow at the National Science Foundation, specifically in the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering, Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure, where they analyzed international data privacy policies and NSF investments in research centers. Julie has also worked as the Deputy lead/Lead at RISE Stronger, a Campaign Manager at the Biodiversity Institute of Ontario, University of Guelph, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Rochester, where they conducted studies on reproductive endosymbionts and their insect hosts within ecological communities.

Julie K. Stahlhut, Ph.D. completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1974 to 1979. Subsequently, they pursued a doctoral degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General at Western Michigan University from 1995 to 2002. Their education also includes a science policy certificate from the University of Missouri, which they obtained from 2013 to 2016.
