Charla brings three decades of experience in marketing and communications to her role as senior counselor. She works closely with clients across various industries on strategic communications planning and execution.
Before joining McDougall, Charla spent 15 years as director of marketing and communications at the Simon Business School, University of Rochester. In this role, she promoted the School, its top-ranked programs, faculty, and research to an international media audience. Charla wrote and edited extensively for internal and external publications including Simon Business, the School's alumni magazine, and led strategy and content across all social media platforms.
During her tenure, the School won prestigious PRSA New York City chapter Big Apple and Silver Anvil awards, and PRSA Rochester chapter PRism awards for communications excellence.
Previously, Charla served as associate director of marketing and communications at Nazareth College of Rochester, where she managed media relations and wrote extensively for the college’s alumni magazine, Connections. Prior to that, she directed enrollment and public relations at her alma mater, Our Lady of Mercy High School. Charla began her career as a general assignment news reporter and anchor at WOKR TV-13 (now 13 WHAM-TV), the ABC affiliate in Rochester.
Charla earned her bachelor's degree in mass communication from St. Bonaventure University. She is also a member of the marketing committee at Nativity Preparatory Academy, a local middle school educating underserved Rochester inner city students and at House of Mercy, a homeless shelter and drop-in center in Rochester.
