Jean-Sebastien Vallee is an accomplished conductor and educator currently serving as the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir since May 2021. Vallee holds the position of Full Professor and Director of Choral Activities at McGill University, where involvement includes overseeing the Conducting and Ensembles Area. Previous roles include Music Director of the Ottawa Choral Society from September 2016 to May 2022, and Director of Choirs at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul until April 2022. Vallee has also served as Artistic and Musical Director of the Mountainside Master Chorale and as Director of Choral Studies at California State University, Los Angeles. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, a Graduate Degree from Université de Sherbrooke, and a Bachelor of Music from Université Laval.
