Gillian Fisher

Gillian Fisher is a Partner in MKCI’s Florham Park, New Jersey office. Her practice includes talc and asbestos products liability/toxic tort, medical malpractice, and general liability cases. Over her 27+ year career, Gillian has defended hospitals, nursing facilities and physicians in medical malpractice claims arising in numerous medical specialties, including obstetrics, infectious diseases, geriatrics, cardiology, transplant, general surgery, orthopedics and plastic surgery. Gillian has also represented clients in Intellectual Property and Entertainment law, including review and negotiation of contracts, negotiating disputes related to wages and discrimination, and handling issues concerning the rights of privacy and publicity.

Gillian has tried several cases over the years in medical malpractice and nursing home negligence, as well as the first assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) appeal in New York Supreme Court, New York County. She manages all aspects of her cases, including dispositive motions, negotiations, settlements, and serving as trial counsel.

Prior to law school, Gillian was a paralegal in the litigation department at two leading international litigation firms, where she assisted the chief counsel for the U.S. Senate’s investigation of the Iran-Contra Affair, and handled numerous pro bono cases.

Gillian is a member of numerous state and national law associations and has served as a presenter at national continuing legal education programs. She has also served as a mentor, both formally and informally, to associates to help them navigate the legal profession.

On a personal level, Gillian is very involved in volunteer work. Also, as a former competitive figure skater and nationally ranked skating coach with the Professional Skaters Association, Gillian serves as a national gold level figure skating judge appointed by the United States Figure Skating Association.

Gillian obtained her Juris Doctor degree from City University of New York Law School. During law school, Gillian was an intern for the Honorable Richard F. Braun, and an intern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. She also worked at the Alaska Public Defender Agency in Bethel, Alaska, where she represented defendants under the state’s student practice rule. It was at this position that she had her first experience trying cases. Gillian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature and Philosophy, with a minor in Business from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. While working, she also attended New York University Gallatin Master of Arts program, and created a pilot after-school program for inner-city public school students, where they could have a place to complete home-work, have a snack, and learn to ice skate at the public ice rinks in New York.
