Doug Skinner

Doug is a Partner in their St. John’s office and a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. Doug’s practice is focused on the energy, construction and insurance sectors with a particular focus on commercial arbitration. He has a wide range of experience including royalty matters for the energy industry, construction arbitration, insurance claims and investor-state disputes. Doug’s experience also reaches out to include business dispute resolution on behalf of major project owners and insurers before all levels of Court.

Doug is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Canadian Maritime Law Association and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. He is the former Chair of the Maritime Law Newfoundland and Labrador subsection of the CBA and previously served as the national admiralty bar representative on the Federal Court Rules Committee. Doug was selected as one of the Lexpert Rising Stars for Lawyers under 40 for 2013. He also features in the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory. Doug is listed as Provincial Litigation Star under Commercial, Insolvency, Insurance, and Maritime Law in Benchmark Litigation Canada. He has been recognized by Best LawyersTM in Canada for his Energy Regulatory Law practice.
