Matt East

Matt East, PhD, is an experienced engineer currently working at McLaren Engineering Group since September 2022. Prior to this role, Matt served as a PhD Candidate at McMaster University from September 2017 to August 2022, where significant contributions included the creation of finite element models for seismic analysis, the design and testing of masonry walls, and the development of guidelines for resilient seismic force resisting systems. As a teaching assistant and sessional instructor at McMaster University, Matt demonstrated strong pedagogical skills, achieving a 9.0/10 student feedback rating. In earlier positions at Hatch, Matt worked on structural design, cost estimation, and finite element modeling for various civil engineering projects.
