Darren Burke

Darren Burke is an experienced professional in academia and the entrepreneurship sector, currently serving as an Industry Professor at McMaster University since August 2023 and as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Saint Mary's University since January 2023. Previously, Darren co-founded and served as CEO of Outcast Foods from August 2018 to December 2021, focusing on sustainable food technology and upcycling produce. Prior to that, Darren founded and led RIVALUS Inc., a company dedicated to providing safe nutritional supplements for athletes, from January 2008 until its acquisition in December 2013. From 1997 to 2007, Darren was a professor at St. Francis Xavier University. Educational credentials include a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University.
