Norman Schmitz

Norman Schmitz is an experienced Education Specialist at McWane Science Center since June 2017, responsible for developing and delivering inquiry-based educational programs for diverse audiences, mentoring new educators, and conducting outreach programming in schools. Prior roles include Science Presenter at McWane Science Center, Course Instructor for Precalculus Trigonometry, and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where support was provided in mathematics courses and student tutoring was facilitated. Norman also has experience in customer service as a Hill Student Center Information Desk Attendant and Retail Sales Associate at Cracker Barrel, along with a background in mathematics tutoring at Lurleen B Wallace Community College. Norman holds a Master of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
