At Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, Marisa serves as the Vice President of Education and Training at the Trauma and Grief Center, where Marisa oversees various training programs for schools and community organizations. Prior to this, Marisa held positions at Texas Children's Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Children's Treehouse Foundation, and Memorial Hermann Health System, all revolving around providing support, training, and counseling in various healthcare settings. The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that supports the implementation of policies and programs that help Texans obtain effective, efficient mental health care when and where they need it. The Institute’s vision is for Texas to be the national leader in treating people with mental health needs. The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute provides high quality, nonpartisan and objective policy research and development to improve mental health services in Texas. It’s about more than funding at the state level. It’s about leveraging our resources statewide at a grassroots level – sharing best practices, making resources available, accessing information, building protocol – and then using that information to help those who need it most. It’s time to change how we think about mental health and change our state of mind.
