John Koontz

John Koontz has over 30 years of work experience in various roles and companies. John started their career in 1982 as a Project Manager at Murphy Company Mechanical Contractors & Engineers, where they worked until 1990. John then joined Shambaugh & Son LP as a Project Manager until 1996. From 1996 to 1998, they served as a Senior Project Manager at Craft Mechanical. In 1992, they became an Associate Professor at Purdue University until 2000. In 1997, they founded their own company, John R. Koontz & Associates. In 1999, they also took on the role of Director of Project Management Education at the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA).

John Koontz completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction Technology at Purdue University from 1978 to 1982. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Construction Management at Washington University in St. Louis from 1982 to 1984.
