Vernetta P. worked as the Director of Human Resources for the Mecklenburg County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board starting in August 2015. Prior to that, they held the role of Human Resources Administrative Officer for the City of Charlotte from November 2010 to August 2015.

Vernetta P. has obtained a Strategic Human Resources Leadership Certificate from Cornell University, with a completion year of 2022. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Pfeiffer University, specializing in Business Administration and Management. Their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology was acquired from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation from HR Certification Institute - HRCI in December 2019. Prior to that, in January 2015, they obtained the SHRM - Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from SHRM. Moreover, in February 2021, they gained the North Carolina Notary Public certification from the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State.
