Jia Wei

Jia Wei is an experienced GIS professional with a robust background in geospatial information systems, currently serving as the GIS Director for Mecklenburg County since June 2021. In this role, Jia Wei oversees the Geospatial Information Enterprise Service, managing multiple service divisions, ensuring resource allocation, contract management, and customer satisfaction. Previous experience includes serving as the GIS Administrator for the Reedy Creek Improvement District for over 22 years, where Jia Wei led the development of enterprise applications and managed GIS budgets and resources. Earlier roles included GIS/Planner Intern at the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, Teaching & Research Assistant at Rutgers University, and a Regional Planner & GIS Analyst with the Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission. Jia Wei holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning & GIS from Rutgers University and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Nanjing University.
