Shawn Ritchie has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Starting in 1995, they worked as a Summer and Honours Project Student at the National Research Council Canada. Shawn then went on to work at the University of Saskatchewan, where they held multiple roles, including Molecular Lab Assistant, Masters Student, and PhD Student.
In 2002, Shawn Ritchie became a Postdoctoral Fellow at Phenomenome Discoveries, Inc. Shawn then gradually progressed within the company, taking on positions such as Research Scientist, Senior Research Scientist, and Director of Discovery Research. In these roles, they focused on metabolomic biomarker programs, cancer research, drug response, and molecular biology. Shawn also acted as the principal investigator for a large-scale clinical trial.
From 2012 to 2016, Shawn Ritchie served as the Director of Biomarker Discovery and Validation at Phenomenome Discoveries, Inc. Here, they led a team of scientists involved in metabolic research and the development of clinical assays. Shawn conducted research on cancer epidemiology, risk factors, and the impact of company products on risk stratification. Several of these tests were successfully introduced to the Canadian marketplace.
In 2016, Shawn Ritchie joined Med-Life Discoveries as the CEO and Chief Scientific Officer. After four years, they transitioned to GraySpace Therapeutics in 2020, where they assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Shawn Ritchie has a strong educational background in the field of Biochemistry. Shawn obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Saskatchewan, where they studied from 1992 to 1996. Following that, they pursued further studies and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry at the same university, studying from 1996 to 2002.
In 2011, Shawn Ritchie sought to enhance their skills in Technical Writing and Communications by pursuing a Certificate program at Simon Fraser University. Shawn completed this program in 2013.
In terms of additional certifications, Shawn Ritchie obtained the Good Laboratory Practice certification from the CITI Program, a Division of BRANY, in February 2021. Prior to that, they obtained the Technical Writing and Communications certification from Simon Fraser University in January 2014. Shawn also holds certifications in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) from whmis.ca, both obtained in January 2013.
