Rob Smith has extensive work experience in the emergency medical services field. Rob has held various roles in different companies throughout their career. In 1983, they started as a Volunteer Firefighter at Johnson St. Paris Fire Department. From 1989 to 1993, they worked as a Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic at Tipp City EMS. Then, they joined Citywide Ambulance as an EMT/Paramedic from 1991 to 1993.
In 1993, Smith started working at Sunstar Paramedics, where they held multiple positions over the years. Rob worked as a Field Training Officer from 1996 to 2014 and as a Paramedic from 1993 to 2014. Rob also served as a Communications Supervisor from 2003 to 2014 and as Director of Communications and Emergency Management from 2011 to 2014. Additionally, they had roles as a Manager of Materials and Emergency Management and as an Administrative Supervisor during their time at Sunstar Paramedics.
Smith then worked as Executive Director at LACP/St. Rita's Medical Center from 2014 to 2015. After that, they joined Paramedics Logistics Indiana-TRAA as the Chief Operating Officer from 2015 to 2020.
From 2020 to 2022, Smith worked at Lutheran Health Network. Rob held the positions of EMS Regional Director Lutheran and Porter EMS from 2021 to 2022 and Director of Clinical Outreach from 2020 to 2021.
Their most recent position is as Vice President of EMS at MedCare Ambulance, starting in 2022.

Rob Smith earned a Master's degree in Emergency Management Systems from Columbia Southern University, where they studied from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Safety Administration from St. Petersburg College from 2002 to 2011. In 1987 and 1988, Smith attended The Ohio State University, majoring in Computer Science. In addition to their formal education, Smith has obtained various certifications related to emergency management and public safety. These certifications include IS-240 Leadership and Influence, IS-242 Effective Communications, IS-244 Developing and Managing Volunteers, IS-907 Active Shooter, Is-241 Decision Making and Problem Solving, Professional Development Series, IS-120 An Introduction to Exercise, IS-235 Emergency Planning, BLS Healthcare Provider, ICS All Hazards Incident Command, Paramedic, 911 Public Telecommunicator, Comm Leader Type III, Florida Paramedic, ICS 400, State Integrated Emergency Management, ACLS Provider, BLS Instructor, Advanced EMD, and ITLS Advanced Provider. The certifications were obtained between 2011 and 2013.
