Saroj Nepal has a long and varied work experience in the field of science. Saroj started their career in 2004 as an Undergraduate Student at Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj Medical Campus, Kathmandu, where they earned their Bachelor in Pharmacy with training in Pharmacology, Biopharmaceutics, and Medicinal Chemistry. During their time there, they performed a bioequivalence study of two brands of phenytoin sodium 100mg formulations in healthy adult male rabbits, which was published in International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research. In 2009, they became a Graduate Student at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where they worked on projects such as the estimation of Pharmacokinetics of Methotrexate in rheumatoid arthritis patients on polypharmacy, and the role of Abresham in the amelioration of dyslipidemia, hepatic steatosis and hypertension in high-fat diet fed rats. In 2011, they became a Graduate Research Assistant at Yeungnam University, where they identified the molecular mechanisms of adiponectin and leptin mediated cancer cell death and survival in hepatic, breast and colon cancer, and led a project to identify ubiquitin specific protease 2, a deubiquitinating enzyme as a potential therapeutic target in liver and breast cancer. In 2015, they became a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where they identified epigenetics modifier GSK126 (EZH2 inhibitor) involvement in suppression of ARID1A mutated bladder cancer. From 2016 to 2020, they were a Research Fellow at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where they were the project leader for the Center for Stem cell and vascular biology, and investigated the potency and efficacy of prospective anti-fibrotic drugs using in vitro fibrosis assay platform. Saroj is currently a Senior Scientist and Scientist at Mediar Therapeutics.
Saroj Nepal's education history consists of three degrees and one certification. In 2011, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Pharmacology from Yeungnam University. From 2009 to 2011, they completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Pharmacology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences. From 2004 to 2008, they completed their Bachelor in Pharmacy from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj Medical Campus, Kathmandu.
