J.R. Johnson

Project Leader at MediBeacon

J.R. Johnson has a wealth of work experience, beginning in 2003 as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Notre Dame. In 2008, they moved to Washington University School of Medicine, where they served as a Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Research Scholar. In 2011, they became a Project Manager and Consultant for The BALSA Group, followed by a Scientist role at Adarza BioSystems from 2013 to 2015. Since 2015, they have been a Project Leader at MediBeacon. In these roles, they have optimized clinical instrumentation, run and maintained biophotonics laboratories, implemented equipment upgrades, configuration, and validation, optimized and validated production processes, analyzed markets, performed due diligence analysis, designed and synthesized probes for optical imaging, developed bioluminescence microscopy systems, and mentored rotation and early-stage graduate students.

J.R. Johnson attended Winthrop University from 1998 to 2002, where they received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology and Chemistry. J.R. then went on to the University of Notre Dame, where they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry in 2008.
