Richard Butler

Director since July, 2003, Dick is an attorney, consultant, and lecturer in the long-term care arena and cofounder of Survey Management Services. A graduate of Purdue University and Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, he brings more than 30 years’ experience in health care at the state and national level to the Board. Previously, he served over nine years as the Executive Vice President of the Indiana Health Care Association and served on the Facility Standards Committee and OBRA Task Force for the American Health Care Association. Dick is published in the area of survey information and patient rights and has presented at numerous national conventions and meetings for the long-term care profession. He currently serves on AHCA’s Survey/Regulatory Committee. He is a strong volunteer with youth, having served on the Indiana 4-H Foundation Board of Directors and as its President as well as a Trustee for St. Richard’s Independent Episcopal Day School. Active with Purdue university where he has served on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Liberal Arts. Currently he serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Purdue School of Nursing. He resides in Indianapolis, Indiana and is an avid hosta gardner.
