Head of Genomic Services & International Sales at Medicinal Genomics

Mike Catalano has extensive experience in marketing, business development, and product management within the biotechnology and genomics industries. Mike is currently the Head of Genomic Services & International Sales at Medicinal Genomics, where they oversee the agricultural genomics services business, including DNA sequencing, SNP chip services, and bioinformatics analysis for the hemp and cannabis industries. In addition, they are responsible for building a global network of distributors for the company's agricultural pathogen detection products.

At ALE, they implemented a marketing automation system, built a new website with ecommerce functionality, and integrated data across various departments. At Medicinal Genomics, they contributed to the company's growth and success by increasing test orders by 300% in 2 years. At Courtagen Life Sciences, they were responsible for starting up pharmaceutical partnerships, managing the genetics testing service business, and organizing the CannMed Personalized Cannabinoid Medicine Conference at Harvard.

Before their roles at Medicinal Genomics and Courtagen Life Sciences, Mike gained valuable experience at Roche, where they held the position of Sr. International Marketing Manager, Sequencing Solutions. In this role, they played a key role in global strategic marketing for next-generation sequencing products and led special projects exploring strategic opportunities in the in-vitro diagnostics market. Prior to Roche, Mike worked at Roche Diagnostics/454 Life Sciences as a Commercial Product Manager, responsible for product commercialization efforts for the company's genome sequencing system and reagents. Mike successfully launched a large reagent product and led a post-launch support team during a period of high growth.

Mike's earlier career includes roles at Protedyne Corp./LabCorp as a Product Marketing Manager, where they built the marketing function for the company's robotic laboratory automation systems, and at Packard BioScience/PerkinElmer as a Product Manager, Microarray Systems. In the latter role, they led the marketing efforts for a robotic microarray production equipment product line, overseeing a development team and managing marketing communications and applications.

Mike Catalano attended the University of Connecticut from 1985 to 1990, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a focus on Electrical Engineering. Following a gap in their education, from 1997 to 2000, Mike pursued further studies at Rensselaer at Work. During this time, they earned their Master of Business Administration degree, specializing in Finance.
