Lysette Cohen is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in the media and development sectors. Currently serving as the Director of Communications at MediCinema since November 2019, Cohen previously held the position of Head of Communications at Comic Relief. Significant contributions were made at The World Bank, where Cohen worked in various capacities, including Communications Consultant for External and Corporate Relations, managing media outreach and high-level event planning, such as the Spring Meeting event on mental health in collaboration with the WHO. Earlier roles include Deputy Director at First Bites, Communications/Marketing Advisor for the World Bank Family Network, and Communications Consultant for Headline Media and freelance projects. Cohen's career began at Channel 4, where a decade was spent managing publicity and media relations across multiple channels. MediCinema
MediCinema is a UK charity which improves the wellbeing and quality of life of NHS patients and their families through the power of the shared cinema experience and the magic of film. It builds and runs cinemas in hospitals equipped with space for beds, wheelchairs, and medical equipment. Its services demonstrably help to improve emotional, mental, and physical health, reducing feelings of isolation, anxiety, and stress, and increasing patient resilience. More than half of the patients visiting a MediCinema tell us it helps to reduce their pain. MediCinema is an independently-funded charity which receives no government or NHS funding. Our screenings are available to all patients, their families and carers. Admission is free.
