Kenneth Borow

Dr. Ken Borow is a highly experienced clinician, clinical investigator, and trialist. He is a Harvard-trained adult cardiologist, pediatric cardiologist, internist, and pediatrician with over 30 years of clinical research experience. As a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and, subsequently, Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Chicago, he is the author of more than 120 publications across multiple therapeutic areas. As Director of the Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Imaging Program at the University of Chicago, he was responsible for clinical and research studies involving multiple advanced imaging techniques. He also oversaw a large research group focused on ischemic heart disease and heart failure that included centers in North America, the United Kingdom, Norway, Israel, and South Africa. For nearly a decade, Dr. Borow worked closely with the world-renowned pioneering cardiac surgeon Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub on issues relating to heart failure as well as heart and heart/lung transplantation. He was a senior member of the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Task Force on Heart Failure which was chaired by Dr. Eugene Braunwald. The Task Force Report was used as the foundation for NHLBI funding priorities for heart failure research from the late 1990s and into the 21st Century. Dr. Borow’s biopharmaceutical industry experience includes responsibility for Clinical Research Operations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico for Merck Research Laboratories. In this role, he was actively involved in the clinical development of 38 new drug entities. Subsequently, Dr. Borow was CEO of a NASDAQ-traded contract research organization (CRO) with operations in 30 countries. He led the company’s consulting business, was actively involved in the design and conduct of multiple international clinical trials, and helped build the Company into an internationally recognized provider of quality consulting and clinical operational services.
