Kathryn Zavala

Chief Operating Officer at MedTech Innovator

Kathryn Zavala has a wealth of work experience, beginning with their role as an Analyst at RCT Ventures in 2015. Kathryn then worked at Campbell Alliance (now Syneos Health) as a Commercial Strategy from 2015-2016. In 2016, they began working at UCLA Technology Development Group as a Senior Technology Fellow in the Office of Intellectual Property. Kathryn also held a Teaching Assistant position for the Easton Technology Leadership Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management from 2016-2018. In 2018, they were appointed as the DRIVe Accelerator Network - Grantee Project Director at Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). From 2016-2021, they worked at MedTech Innovator, first as Chief Operating Officer, then as Vice President of Operations & Business Development, Program Director, and finally Program Manager. In 2021, they began working at BioTools Innovator as the Managing Director.

Kathryn Zavala earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where they double majored in Molecular and Cell Biology and Rhetoric. Kathryn then went on to get their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of California, Los Angeles in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology.
