Steven Claessens

Steven Claessens is an accomplished Senior Principal Scientist at Medtronic since July 2018, with a focus on identifying and incorporating strategic technologies into the product portfolio. Claessens has extensive experience in the medical device sector, previously serving as Principal Scientist, where technical leadership facilitated the commercialization of Class III medical devices and the development of methods for treating structural heart and vascular conditions. Prior to Medtronic, Claessens was with Edwards Lifesciences from May 2010 to July 2018, holding various roles including Staff Research Scientist, where expertise in biological tissue design was leveraged, and managing multiple projects across business units. Claessens holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine, obtained in 2009.
