P.eng. A. Akin Koksal

A. Akin Koksal, P.Eng. has a strong background in quality assurance, construction management, and integrity assurance. A. Akin currently works as the Chief Inspector and Principal Integrity Assurance Engineer at MEG Energy Corp. where they are responsible for ensuring the integrity of facilities and infrastructure. Prior to this, they served as the Construction and Supplier Quality Manager at MEG Energy Corp. from 2015 to 2019.

Before joining MEG Energy Corp., Akin held various roles in different organizations. A. Akin briefly served as the President of SETA Quality, Welding, NDT Consulting & Training Corp. in 2014. From 2012 to 2014, they were the General Manager - Quality and Technical Services at FT Services, overseeing quality and technical aspects of operations. A. Akin also worked as the Manager - Operations Quality Control and Manager - Quality and Compliance at FT Services from 2010 to 2012 and 2010 to 2011, respectively.

Prior to their time at FT Services, Akin was the Construction Quality Manager at Bantrel Constructors from 2007 to 2010. A. Akin also served as the QA/QC Manager at AES from 2006 to 2007 and at ENKA from 2005 to 2006.

Akin's early experience in the industry includes working at Bechtel-Enka Joint Venture, where they held the positions of Field Engineering and QC Manager from 2002 to 2005 and QA/QC Supervisor from 2000 to 2002.

A. Akin Koksal, P.Eng. began their education at Istanbul Technical University, where they obtained a B.Sc in Metallurgical Engineering from 1993 to 2000. They then pursued further education at Sakarya University, earning an M.Sc in Welding Engineering from 2000 to 2002. Prior to these university studies, Akin attended the Turkish Education College from 1986 to 1992, although the specific degree and field of study are unknown.

In addition to their academic degrees, Akin has obtained various certifications throughout their career. These include a P.Eng certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in July 2013. Other notable certifications include ASNT NDT Level III in MT, PT, RT, UT, and VT from ASNT (The American Society for Nondestructive Testing) in March 2003, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor - Quality Certification from IRCA | International Register of Certificated Auditors in June 2004, and Six Sigma Yellow Belt from Bechtel Corporation in March 2005.

More recently, Akin has obtained certifications such as In-Service Pressure Equipment Inspector from ABSA, the pressure equipment safety authority, in October 2019, National Board In-Service Inspection - Commission Eligible from The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors in September 2019, and Radiation Safety Officer from Stuart Hunt & Associates Ltd. in November 2022. They also obtained edX Verified Certificates in Astrophysics: Exploring Exoplanets and Greatest Unsolved Mysteries of the Universe from edX in December 2022.

Akin's most recent certification is the Notary Public Appointment from the Government of Alberta, which they obtained in January 2023.
