Byron Haupt

Byron Haupt is a seasoned medical doctor with extensive experience in sports medicine and emergency care. Currently serving as a medical doctor at HealthPlus and team physician for the University of the Western Cape's Varsity Cup team, Byron also oversees a high-performance injury clinic for UWC athletes. Since October 2019, Byron has been a match doctor for PSL matches, including duties for Cape Town City Football Club, as well as serving as a match day doctor for the South African Rugby Union during Super Rugby and Curry Cup matches. Additional roles include tournament doctor for the Mens 7's Series in Cape Town under World Rugby and events medical officer for various sporting events. Byron's educational background includes a Doctor of Medicine degree from Stellenbosch University, along with postgraduate diplomas in Aviation and Underwater Medicine, complemented by a residency program in Sports Medicine at the University of Cape Town.
