David L. Callender, MD

David L Callender MD serves as President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Health System since September 2019, overseeing one of the largest non-profit health systems in Southeast Texas, which includes 17 hospitals and a focus on community health initiatives. Previously, from September 2007 to August 2019, David coordinated efforts as President of The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where significant reconstruction followed Hurricane Ike's devastation. Earlier roles include Associate Vice Chancellor & CEO at UCLA Health and Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at MD Anderson Cancer Center. David holds multiple degrees, including an M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine and an M.B.A. from the University of Houston.
