Lauren Chan

Research Assistant at Memorial Hospital of RI

Lauren Chan has extensive experience in research and environmental education. Currently serving as a Research Assistant at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island since February 2014, Lauren also contributes as an Undergraduate Research Assistant with the "Zebrafish at Brown" group at Brown University, focusing on learning and behavior in zebrafish larvae. In addition, Lauren has taken on the role of Outdoor Leadership Environmental Education Program Mentor at Brown University's Swearer Center since September 2012, where responsibilities include planning workshops and leading experiential trips to promote environmental science among high school students. Earlier experience includes an internship at Lenox Hill Veterinarians from September 2011 to June 2012, which involved shadowing veterinarians and assisting in standard procedures. Lauren holds a degree from Brown University, attended from 2012 to 2016, and graduated from Hunter College High School in 2012.

Memorial Hospital of RI

On December 28, 2017, the Rhode Island Department of Health announced the approval of Care New England’s reverse certificate of need application to move forward with the functional closure of Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department. As of January 1, 2018, Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed.
