Elliot Perry

Director of Player Support at Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis native Elliot Perry enters his 14th season with the Memphis Grizzlies and seventh in the basketball operations department as director of player support. In this role, Perry’s responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing Grizzlies players for life after basketball and advising with respect to community investment. In addition, Perry has been a limited partner of the Grizzlies’ ownership group since 2005 and is entering his 12th season on the team’s radio broadcast as an analyst alongside playby-play announcer Eric Hasseltine.

A graduate of Treadwell High School, Perry started every game in his four-year collegiate career (1987-91) with his hometown Memphis

State Tigers and led his team to two NCAA Tournament berths, including a second round appearance in 1987, before graduating with a degree in marketing. Selected 37th overall in the 1991 NBA Draft, Perry played 10 seasons in the NBA for seven different teams, including a two-game stint with the Grizzlies in his final season (2001-02). Perry, who became known as “Socks” because of his trademark knee-highs, finished runner-up for the 1995 NBA Most Improved Player Award as a member of the Phoenix Suns.

Perry, a 2009 inductee in the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, is committed to making a difference in his community. He founded the SOCKS (Supporting Our Community and KidS) Banquet to provide financial support to those organizations that are making a difference in the Memphis area as it relates to kids. Perry also is an active member of the Grizzlies Foundation mentoring programs and serves as Chairman of the Grizzlies Foundation Board. He also is a current board member of the National Civil Rights Museum and Teach for America.
