Josh DeFonzo

Josh DeFonzo has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Josh co-founded and served as the CEO of Mendaera, Inc. starting in September 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Venetus Consulting as a Principal, providing executive advisory services to healthcare technology companies since August 2014.

In 2020, they held the role of President at Johnson & Johnson from February to September. Josh also worked at Lux Capital as the CEO and Director of Lux Health Tech Acquisition Corp, focusing on healthcare and technology intersection, from September 2020 to October 2022.

From 2016 to 2020, Josh held multiple positions at Auris Health, Inc, including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and Vice President of Clinical Innovation, leading various teams and driving growth.

Before that, they joined CareDx, Inc in 2014, initially as the Senior Director, Integrated Transplant Customer Care, and later became the Chief Commercial Officer.

From 2009 to 2014, they worked at EndoGastric Solutions, starting as the Senior Product and Marketing Manager and eventually served as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Interim President. Josh was responsible for corporate strategy, sales, marketing, and fundraising activities.

Josh's earlier experience includes roles at Invuity Inc as a Sales Manager and Product Management, Source Surgical, Inc as a Sales Representative, and Medtronic Sofamor Danek as a Sales Representative.

Throughout their career, they have demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, operational expertise, fundraising, and growth management in the healthcare and technology sectors.

Josh DeFonzo attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1999 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics. In addition to their formal education, they obtained a certification in Introduction to Big Data from the University of California through Coursera Course Certificates in May 2016.
