Mugure Kamau

Mugure Kamau has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Their most recent position is as a Gender, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist at MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates), which they started in December 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Board Member at The Comesa Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) starting in January 2022.

From March to November 2022, Mugure worked as a Gender Specialist for Acumen East and West Africa. Mugure held the role of Women's Economic Empowerment Director at THE PALLADIUM GROUP, L.L.C. from January 2021 to February 2022, where they were responsible for overseeing projects, integrating gender into program activities, and developing new opportunities for women's economic empowerment.

Before that, from December 2019 to December 2020, they served as the Global Gender Programme Manager and Senior Enterprise Development Advisor for SNV's Enhancing Opportunities for Women's Enterprises Program (EOWE), aimed at promoting women's economic participation in Kenya.

Notably, Mugure also appeared as an Enterprise Development Expert on the Road To Success TV show from June 2013 to December 2020, providing advice to entrepreneurs on business operations and strategy.

In their earlier career, from January 2011 to June 2016, they worked as a Program Manager for GOWE under the AMSCO - A UNDP Project, where they successfully implemented capacity development activities and managed the program's budget. Mugure also served as a Full-time Mother from April 2008 to December 2010.

Before that, Mugure worked as a Program Manager for Management Express at the British Council from April 2006 to March 2008, where they developed marketing strategies, managed budgets, and implemented a regional knowledge-sharing workshop.

During their self-employment period from February 2004 to March 2006, they focused on training and recruitment consulting for leading Kenyan companies, including Kenya Commercial Bank, Jacaranda Hotels, Caltex Oil (K) Ltd, and Kencall EPZ Ltd.

Mugure Kamau has a diverse education history. Mugure began their education in 1988 at Kianda School, where they studied for three years. Mugure then attended the University of Nairobi from 1993 to 1997, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. After completing their undergraduate studies, Mugure Kamau enrolled at the KIM Kenya Institute of Management in 2000 and 2001, where they obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and specialized in Marketing Management.

In addition to their formal education, Mugure Kamau has also acquired several certifications. In 2002, they received the certification of being a "BusinessWise Plus" Trainer from Stratagem Training Services. In the same year, they also completed a "Training of Trainers" program offered by Amref Health Africa in the USA. Most recently, in January 2015, Mugure Kamau obtained the certification of being a "GET Ahead" trainer from the International Labour Organization.
