Riaan Thomson

Riaan Thomson is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in urban planning and management. Currently serving as Chairman of Mensa South Africa since July 2019 and as Director at URBIS Consulting since July 2016, Riaan has a rich background in the field. Previously, Riaan held roles including Manager of Planning at Black Balance Projects (S.A) from October 2012 to May 2016, Branch Manager at Vuka Planning Africa Inc. from July 2007 to September 2012, and Director at Maluleke Luthuli KZN Pty Ltd from August 2004 to July 2007. Riaan began the career as a Town Planner at Urban Dynamics Free State Inc. from 1998 to 2004 after completing a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of the Free State from 1997 to 2002.
