In 2017, they joined Lyft as a Driver before returning to Mercer Capital as a Financial Analyst. During this time, they contributed to the company's weekly blog, Auto Dealer Valuation Insights, and their semiannual Auto Dealer Newsletter. David also worked on the Litigation Support Services team, focusing on Family Law matters. Their role also included contributing to the company's Energy blog and newsletters.

David Harkins, CFA, ABV, obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics from The University of the South, where they also completed minors in Math and Honors Business. David attended the university from 2013 to 2017. Continuing their education, David obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification from the CFA Institute in August 2020, followed by the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV®) credential from the AICPA in September 2021.
