Alan Northrup

Alan Northrup is the Associate Vice President and Head of Chemistry at Merck in San Francisco, where they lead the discovery chemistry organization supporting various therapeutic areas. Previously, Northrup held multiple roles at Merck from 2016 to 2023, including Executive Director and Research Fellow, where they managed drug discovery projects and developed the chemistry organization on the West Coast. They earned an A.B. summa cum laude in Chemistry from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Caltech.
