Ron Garza currently serves as the Senior Associate Vice President for Workforce & Economic Development at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley since March 2022. Previously, Ron Garza was the City Manager for the City of Edinburg from March 2020 to March 2022, managing nearly 1,000 employees and overseeing a substantial budget for one of Texas's fastest-growing cities. Ron Garza's extensive experience includes roles such as Executive Director of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council and the Rio Grande Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (temporary), as well as positions in the City of San Antonio's Department of Human Services and the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services. Ron Garza holds a Master of Education in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas State University.
