Hsing-I Ho

Associate Principal Scientist at Merck

Hsing-I Ho is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in biocatalysis and genetic engineering. Currently serving as an Associate Principal Scientist at Merck since January 2020, Hsing-I focuses on engineering biocatalysis for sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing, enzyme mining for novel chemistry, and NGS core management. Previously held roles include Associate Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Columbia University, where Hsing-I engineered synthetic genes and developed programmable synthetic transcriptional factors using CRISPR technology. Prior experience also includes a postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, where Hsing-I created CRISPR tools for soil amoeba engineering, and military service in the Army as a Sergeant. Hsing-I holds a PhD in Molecular and Human Genetics from Baylor College of Medicine and a Bachelor's degree in Life Science from National Yang Ming University.
