Janaka Gamekkanda

Janaka Gamekkanda is a Senior Scientist in Engineering at Merck since August 2023, with a strong background in crystallization and process development. Previously, as a Crystallization Scientist at CONTINUUS Pharmaceuticals from March 2022 to March 2023, Janaka led batch crystallization processes for purifying drug compounds. A Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from November 2019 to February 2022, Janaka focused on continuous crystallization process control for active pharmaceutical ingredients. Earlier experience includes a Postdoctoral Research Associate role at Kansas State University, where Janaka conducted co-crystal screening, and a Graduate Research Assistantship at the same institution, working on energetic materials and their properties. Janaka's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Kansas State University and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Colombo. Additional roles include teaching and assisting in various educational capacities in Sri Lanka.
