Maria Alvarado

Maria Alvarado has a diverse work experience in strategic communications and public affairs. Maria currently holds the position of Senior Vice President at Mercury, where they advise clients on strategic communications, brand protection, and crisis management. Maria has worked with various clients, including Fortune 500 companies, startups, trade associations, and political candidates. Prior to their current role, they served as a Vice President at Mercury.

Before joining Mercury, Maria worked as the Director of Public Affairs at the Alliance for Downtown New York, where they focused on media relations and branding efforts for economic development and tourism sectors. Maria also has experience working in the New York City Council as a Press Secretary, overseeing communications strategies for the legislative body and coordinating major policy initiatives.

Maria has also worked in political campaigns and government offices, including serving as the Deputy Communications Director for the Quinn for New York campaign and as a Press Aide in the Office of Senator Hillary Clinton. Maria began their career at Edelman as a Public Affairs Summer Associate.
