Cathy Rothenberger

Cathy Rothenberger has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Cathy began their career as a Youth Advisor in Belize, where they successfully launched a youth business education program. Cathy then joined the International Rescue Committee as a Field Coordinator in Azerbaijan, managing program operations in health, economic development, and shelter.

Cathy went on to work at Mercy Corps, where they held various leadership roles. Cathy served as a Country Director, overseeing staff and program portfolios focused on livelihood, community development, and institution building in multiple countries. Cathy also led the closeout of country operations in Eritrea and rebuilt team and program operations after fraud issues in another country.

In their later roles at Mercy Corps, Cathy focused on talent management and leadership development. Cathy led efforts to find and acquire top talent for the organization and spearheaded initiatives to support leadership during country pivots and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cathy Rothenberger has a diverse education history. In 1995, they attended the Thunderbird School of Global Management, where they earned a Master's in International Management (MIM). During their time at Thunderbird, their studies focused on International Management, Chinese, and Development. Prior to that, from 1988 to 1990, they pursued a Bachelor's of Business Administration (BBA) in International Management at Georgetown University. In 1987 and 1988, Cathy also studied Chinese and Business at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Additionally, in 2021, Cathy obtained a certification in "Burn Bright: The Resilience Advantage" from the Center For Creative Leadership.
