Robbert van Den Berg

Robbert van den Berg serves as the Managing Director for Mercy Corps in The Netherlands since February 2024. Previously, Robbert held the position of Head of Emergency Programme Turkey/Syria at Stichting Vluchteling, where responsibilities included overseeing the response to the February 2023 earthquakes. Prior to this, Robbert was a Senior Advisor for the UN 2023 Water Conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands. Robbert's extensive experience includes serving as Executive Director of ECPAT International, leading efforts against the sexual exploitation of children globally. In earlier roles with Oxfam, Robbert was the Regional Director for both the Middle East & North Africa and Horn, East & Central Africa regions, managing development and humanitarian interventions across multiple countries. Robbert holds a Master's degree in International Development Studies from the University of Leiden, completed between 1986 and 1993.
