William Baron

William Baron serves as the Country Director for Mercy Corps in Kenya since August 2024, after a distinguished tenure with Mercy Corps spanning over 14 years. This includes leadership as Chief of Party for the $34 million RIPA-North Activity in Ethiopia, focusing on resilient household strategies in vulnerable regions. Previous roles include Director of Programs, Senior Advisor for Market Systems Development, and Program Manager for Alternative Energy, where significant contributions included innovative programming, capacity-building, and successful funding proposals from organizations like USAID and DFID. William's earlier experience includes serving as the Director of the Research Unit at the Central Bank of Solomon Islands through the ODI fellowship. William holds a Master of Science in Development Economics from SOAS University of London and a Master of Arts in Economics from The University of Edinburgh.
