Steven Chao

Steven Chao is a Mechanical Engineer currently employed at Merichem Company since June 2023. Previously, Steven worked at Phillips 66 for nearly six years, where roles included Crude / Coker Maintenance Engineer and Cogen / Product Control Maintenance Engineer, leading projects to enhance piping and pressure vessel systems and managing temporary repair implementations. Steven’s engineering expertise was demonstrated during 2018 and 2019 turnarounds through the development of detailed engineering packages for repairs and support to the piping design team. Earlier experience includes serving as Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Engineers for a Sustainable World at UT Austin and internship roles at Phillips 66 and GE Oil & Gas. Steven holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
