Chris Garr

Portfolio Manager at Meridian Energy

Chris Garr has over 20 years of work experience, starting in 1990 as a researcher and tutor at the University of Otago. Chris then worked as a Marketing Forecasting Analyst at ECNZ from 1995 to 1997, followed by a role as an Electricity Trader at Electricity corporation of New Zealand from 1997 to 1998. Chris then worked as a Wholesales Contracts Manager at ECNZ residual from 1998 to 1999. Chris then joined East Harbour Management as a Senior Consultant from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, Chris started working at Meridian Energy, where they held various roles including Risk Portfolio Analyst from 2002 to 2004, Revenue Planning & Optimisation Manager from 2004 to 2006, and Portfolio Manager from 2006 onwards. Currently, Chris is serving as the Head of Wholesale Operations at Meridian Energy since September 2016.

Chris Garr obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Geography and Economic from the University of Otago, which they attended from 1983 to 1985. Prior to that, they completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics and Geography in 1987 at the same institution. From 1988 to 1991, Chris pursued a Master's Degree in Economics and Geography at the University of Otago. Chris completed their high school education at St. Paul's High School in Dunedin, where they studied from 1974 to 1979.
