Marcel Podstolski has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Marcel began their career at Lincoln University New Zealand in 2011 as a Student Assistant. Marcel then took on various roles at the university, including being a Tutor, Inclusive Education Mentor, and Lecturer. As a Lecturer, they created the university's first fully digital course and developed course content on applied statistical methods, hypothesis development and testing, research, and analytical skills.
In 2014, Marcel joined Christchurch City Council as an Energy Specialist Analyst. In this role, they conducted facility energy audits, analyzed energy data for 1500 sites, and managed the database setup and management, which included ISO50001 (EnergyMark Gold certification). Marcel also created modeling tools for energy use analysis and tariff analysis.
After their stint at the council, Marcel returned to Lincoln University (NZ) in 2018 as a Tutor/Examiner. During this time, they supervised a team of tutoring staff, created course materials, coordinated marking loads, and provided constructive feedback to students.

Marcel Podstolski completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from the University of Canterbury, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Later, they pursued a Masters of Natural Resource Management & Ecological Engineering degree in Energy Analysis and Policy from Lincoln University (NZ) from 2012 to 2015. In 2013, they also took a course in Economic and Social Sustainability in Natural Resources Management at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU).
