Joel Katz

Joel Katz has worked in the software engineering industry for over four decades. Joel began their career as a Summer Intern at the Massachusetts Energy Office in 1978. Joel then worked as a Junior Engineer at International Harvester in 1979, followed by a Systems Engineer position at Automatix Inc. in 1982. In 1994, they were hired as a Senior Engineer at Acuity Imaging. Joel then moved to Affymetrix in 2001 as a Staff Software Engineer. In 2007, they joined Covaris Inc. as a Senior Staff Software Engineer. Joel was then hired by RainDance Technologies in 2012 as a Principal Software Engineer. In 2017, they moved to Bio-Rad Laboratories, where they held the same role. In 2018, they became a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer at Terrafugia. Most recently, in 2021, they were hired as a Senior Software Engineer at Merlin Labs.

Joel Katz received their BA in Physics from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1977. Joel then attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they earned an SB in Mechanical Engineering in 1979 and an SM in Mechanical Engineering in 1982. In July 2022, they obtained a certification in "Get More Done in Less Time" from LinkedIn.
