Nicholas Desport has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Nicholas started their career in 2005 as the Commander of the 437th Mission Support Group at Charleston AFB. In 2007, they joined Air Mobility Command as the Deputy Director of Installations and Mission Support. In 2009, Nicholas began working for the United States Air Force as The Civil Engineer for the Air Force Reserve Command, where they were responsible for commanding 12 primary and 46 tenant units with a significant budget. Nicholas also directed the planning, design, and construction of a substantial amount of real estate. During their time with the Air Force, Nicholas served as the Robins Post President for SAME from 2009 to 2013. In 2012, they joined the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) as the Deputy Executive Director and Director of Programs, Membership, and Post Operations, a role they held until 2018. Nicholas's most recent position is Director of Business Development at Merrick & Company, where they have been since 2018. Nicholas'sexperience includes leadership roles, program management, membership and post operations, and business development.
Nicholas Desport, RA, LEED AP BD+C, F.SAME, has an extensive education history and multiple certifications. Nicholas obtained their Bachelor of Architecture degree in Architecture and Environmental Design from Kent State University, attending from 1977 to 1982. Nicholas then pursued a Master's degree in Construction Engineering Management from the University of Maryland, studying from 1993 to 1995.
In addition to their educational achievements, Nicholas has obtained certifications to further enhance their professional qualifications. Nicholas earned the LEED AP BD+C certification from the US Green Building Council in July 2013. Furthermore, they became a Registered Architect in the Commonwealth of Virginia in September 1991.
