Inyene Essien-Aleksi

Inyene Essien-Aleksi serves as an Assistant Professor (Tenured Track) at Merrimack College since August 2022, focusing on research related to opioid overdose fatalities and disparities in access to care for medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) among underserved populations. Concurrently, Inyene holds the position of Hospital-Based Opioid Treatment (HBOT) Project Champion at Holy Family Hospital, emphasizing the establishment of strategic partnerships for a Hospital-Based Opioid Treatment program. Previous roles include Adjunct Professor at Northeastern University and various positions as a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner at Lawrence General Hospital and New England Inpatients Specialist, alongside a clinical nursing background in cardiac care. Inyene earned a Ph.D. in Public Health Education and Health Promotion from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and holds multiple nursing degrees from Northeastern University, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Providence College.
