Gemma Odena

Dr. Gemma Odena has over 17 years of work experience in various roles within the medical and scientific field. Gemma is currently working as the Associate Director of Clinical Development at Merz Aesthetics, where they are responsible for designing clinical trials, developing protocols, and providing scientific advice for both US and ex-US studies. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Medical Writer at Merz North America, where they authored clinical documents and contributed to study design and data analysis for medical devices. Dr. Odena also worked as a Scientific Advisor at Medical Statistics Consulting, providing scientific support and medical writing assistance in various therapeutic areas. Gemma has experience as a Freelance Medical Writer, where they provided science communications and publication support. Additionally, Dr. Odena has a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they conducted research on alcoholic liver disease and managed projects for an international consortium. Gemma also has experience as a PhD Student and Graduate Research Assistant, focusing on the development of cirrhosis in a rat model and molecular biology techniques at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute. Gemma Odena, Ph.D. earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2003. Gemma subsequently completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biology at the same university from 2005 to 2011.
