John Gorrell has a diverse work experience in the energy industry. John began their career as a Baroid Drilling Fluids Intern at Halliburton in 2012, gaining practical engineering and field operations experience. John then joined BP as a Drilling Engineer in 2013, where they worked on well projects, providing drilling engineering support and optimizing operations. John also spent a year as a Field Engineer in Alaska's North Slope oil field, supervising rig crews and ensuring adherence to safety policies.

In 2017, John worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Wyoming, completing an economic model for Carbon Capture and Storage projects. This research received a $10 million grant from the Department of Energy for further development.

From 2019 to 2020, John worked at the Kansas Corporation Commission as a Utility Engineer, focusing on engineering and operations aspects of electric and natural gas utilities in the state. Currently, they are a Business Development Manager at Mesa Natural Gas Solutions, where they handle business development, account management, and project management for the Resilient Power Solutions team.

John Gorrell received their Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. Later, from 2016 to 2018, they pursued an Energy Management MBA, specializing in Business Administration and Management, General, at the University of Wyoming College of Business.
